Dan Walters

Dan Walters has been photographing wildlife for nearly 20 years and is passionate about photographing birds. He can usually be found in the field every day, where he challenges himself to capture their color and variety as well as each bird’s unique behavior.  


Living in Colorado provides Dan with a wide variety of ecosystems to photograph in. From the prairie to the alpine tundra, he has numerous subjects to choose from. Dan has been published in Colorado Outdoors, Colorado Life Magazine, Ranger Rick Jr. Magazine, Bugle Magazine, Impact Publishing, Blue sky Publishing, Smith-SouthWestern, Brown Trout Publishing and many more. THU 7 - 10 A.M.

Birds in Flight at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm

Capturing birds in flight and behavior images. Will also go over metering to get proper exposure. And learning to anticipate images by watching behavior. 
This is the perfect time of year. You have chicks begging for food. Adults flying in with food and nesting material. And the breeding colors really make the bird pop.

Field Workshop 

Meeting Location: St. Augustine Alligator Farm, 999 Anastasia Blvd.

Price: $100 + Annual Photo Pass

Difficulty Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Max No. People: 12  

​

Suggested Gear List: â€¯Zoom lens, 150-600 (and a 24-70 if desired). The wide angle will cover the birds that are really close. A telephoto to capture the birds flying in at a more distant nest.  Rain gear in case it rains. Sunscreen.

Beach Photography Scavenger Hunt (co-leader, Lisa Langell)

Inspired photography is about creative vision--and obtaining that vision happens when you learn to be hyper aware of the opportunities that surround you.  This session will help you train your brain to see the infinite opportunities for beautiful images at a single location!
