
David Akoubian
David Akoubian has been a photographer since 1972 when his father presented him with his first camera, but his career in photography started in 1992. David learned his craft originally as a painter and from his father who shares his love of nature and photography. Early in his career he traveled with, learned from and taught beside some of the masters of nature photography including John Shaw, Art Wolfe, Galen Rowell, Bryan Peterson, Pat O'Hara, and Rod Planck. David has been teaching photography since 1994 in the classroom and leading workshops around the United States. David presents and leads workshops at many of the country’s top photographic conferences such as the Photographic Society of America Annual Conference, as well as many camera clubs across the United States. David's clients include, but are not limited to, Coca Cola, PNC Bank, Tamron, Sirui, the Mountain Conservation Trust of Georgia, Lensbaby, The Nature Conservancy, Scholastic Books, and Gibbs Gardens. His photographs and articles have appeared in publications such as Nature Photographer, Audubon Magazine, Blue Ridge Country, Birder's World, Outdoor Photographer, Backpacker Magazine, and many local publications. His work has appeared in several feature books, calendars, as well as in instructional guides. David is a Tamron Image Master, Kase Filter Ambassador, and an f-stop Gear Ambassador.

Join us for a session of photographing in the famous Alligator Farm Rookery and
capture images of many different types of birds and even some alligators. We will learn about proper exposure for front and backlighting, as well as different colors of birds.
A tripod or monopod is recommended but we will talk about how to properly handhold your camera for images as well.

Photographing Sunrise with Horses on the Beach, Co-lead with Lisa Langell
Join Tamron sponsored speakers David Akoubian and Lisa Langell as they team up to lead this festival favorite workshop. Photograph beautiful horses at sunrise on St. Augustine Beach. Attendees will practice posed images of the horses and riders as well as the horses in the surf.
Attendees will learn techniques to stop action and to pan with the subject as the horses run along the beach. It is recommended you have an understanding of quickly changing your shutter speed for different effects.

Join professional photographer David Akoubian for a sunrise session from the observation deck at the top of the St. Augustine Lighthouse. Here, you will learn the proper settings for achieving sunrise images.
NOTE: There are 219 steps to reach the observation deck.

Professional photographer David Akoubian will discuss techniques and offer tips on photographing wildlife. Whether photographing in your backyard or the bush in Alaska, he will discuss settings on your cameras, and things to make it easier to do with confidence. David will also discuss planning for excursions to photograph in the wild. He plans to inspire with images and stories of wildlife images.
