Vinny Colucci

Presenter and award - winning photographer Vinny Colucci has been an active photographer since 1979 and a shooting professional since 1995. He has photographed North Carolina to the west coast and north to the Canadian Rockies. Along with his wife Annette, Vinny conducts nature and wildlife photography workshops throughout the year. 

  

 Vinny is an active outdoorsman and a member of Nikon's Professional Services and Wimberley Professional Services and a Singh-Ray Filter Ambassador &  Technical Advisor as well as a Gura Gear Affiliate. He is past Low Pro Technical Advisor. Vinny is represented by Picture Stock. His images have appeared in multiple publications, including Nature Photographer Magazine, New Bern Travel Magazine, Microwave Journal, and various other publications. He has also authored and co-authored multiple books. 


His speaking engagements have included Popular Photography Magazine, as well as presented at Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI), St. Augustine Photo & Birding Festival, Orlando Wetlands Festival, Crane Festival and multiple universities around the country.

Photography Bootcamp Part 1

Vinny Colucci will present a two-part photography workshop designed to be a Field guide for Nature, Wildlife, and Travel Photographers. In Part 1, Vinny will cover everything from understanding the Aperture, to Shutter speed, exposure and the histogram. He will cover metering focus settings camera modes and or course, filters. Learn about white balance and filters, or why we shoot in RAW and sometimes JPEG. This program is perfect for beginners to intermediates, and a great review for the more advance photographer.

Birds in Flight at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm

This afternoon to evening session will go over bird in flight and wildlife shooting. Either you are shooting with DSL or Mirrorless equipment these techniques work. Camera settings and basic technique will be covered and Field work will take place on the Alligator Farm. Rookery Board Walk. Vinny will spend one on one time with each of you answering questions and helping with technique.

Photography Bootcamp
Part 2

This is the part 2 program of Boot Camp. We will pick up where we left off in Part 1. Vinny will cover white balance and the use of filters. He will also cover picking the proper lens for the scene and explore each lens from fisheye to 600mm. We will also talk about what's in Vinny's bagged have additional time for Q&A from both seminars.

Bird Photography and Flash

Vinny will go over flash techniques when photographing birds both in flight as well as perched. 


This will be a classroom program review of flash settings. Vinny will show his flash setup on his camera and will go over the challenges and myths of using flash outdoors on your subjects. You will walk away with a comfort level for using flash in your bird photography. 


Feel free to bring a camera, lens and flash so they are in your hands as you go through the seminar.

SAT 7 - 10 A.M.

Birds in Flight & Portraits at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm

Morning Session at the Alligator Farm. Vinny will observe your technique for shooting birds in flight and will teach you his technique. Vinny will talk about and demonstrate shooting in manual, Aperture Priority and Shutter priority. If you bring a flash and / or Better-Beamer, Vinny will help you with the flash technique. He will also answer questions on metering and exposure.

Photographing Birds in Flight with Mirrorless

Vinny shoots the Nikon Z series as his primary equipment. He gave up shooting DSL in September 2018 and never looked back. Though shooting Nikon, he has tested some of the Sony line and Fiji XT line. Vinny will go over his camera setup and shooting techniques to capture sharp birds in flight and wildlife images. This class is good for all but geared toward beginner to intermediate photographers.

Photographing Birds in Flight with the Nikon Z Mirrorless at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm

This afternoon field class will focus on shooting birds in flight with Mirrorless. Vinny will demonstrate his camera setup in his Z6, Z6II and Z9. Most Mirrorless camera photographers that have trouble with auto focus capture with the mirrorless camera will walk away with a higher comfort level and many more keepers. We will also talk on metering and exposure.

Sunrise from the St. Augustine Beach Pier

Vinny will demonstrate how to photography sunrise at St. Augustine Beach Pier.  Graduated filters will be discussed and and he will have a filter teaching kit to loan filters for your session.  We will also shoot a motion photography with the waves.
